About BFERC
Bangladesh Fire and Explosion Research Centre (BFERC) is a non-profit organization registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. It collaborates closely with industry, academia, government agencies, and international partners to advance fire safety, explosion prevention, and disaster resilience across Bangladesh. Established as a specialized national centre, BFERC is committed to addressing the growing challenges of industrial hazards, urban safety, and community preparedness. It achieves this through a strong focus on research, innovation, and capacity building.
The centre conducts applied scientific research on fire dynamics, explosion mechanisms, and process safety, transforming theoretical knowledge into practical, real-world solutions for industries and communities. In addition, BFERC offers consultancy services, policy guidance, and technical expertise to support the development and implementation of effective fire and explosion risk management strategies.
Training and education are central to BFERC’s mission. The centre organizes capacity-building programs for professionals, safety officers, and first responders, while also promoting public awareness of fire safety practices and disaster preparedness. Through strategic partnerships with national and international institutions, BFERC facilitates knowledge exchange, technology transfer, and the adoption of global best practices.
BFERC’s ultimate goal is to contribute to a safer, more sustainable, and resilient Bangladesh—where fire and explosion risks are effectively minimized through research, innovation, education, and collective responsibility.
